Bringing Driving Simulators to Ohio Schools

So far, the Foundation has established simulator labs at the following schools and they have made a life-saving commitment — all their students must complete the simulator training in order to graduate.

The State of Driver's Education in Ohio

Ohio minors must complete the following requirements to earn their license:

  • 24 hours of classroom instruction
  • 8 hours of driving with an instructor
  • 50 hours of supervised driving (10 hours at night)

But drivers 18 years old or older do not have to meet these requirements.

An estimated 50,000 YOUNG DRIVERS hit the road without completing driver's education in 2021.

That's why we must bring driver training into Ohio classrooms.

Preparing Young Drivers

We are raising funds to establish up to five more simulator labs in Ohio schools. Target locations include:

  • South-Western City Schools
  • Delaware County
  • Licking County
  • Pickaway County
  • Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Columbus

Make a Life-Saving Commitment

It costs $350,000 to establish a simulator lab, including:

  • 25 simulators
  • Technology infrastructure
  • Central computer for data collection and teacher oversight
  • Ongoing maintenance and software updates

The Foundation seeks funding to make this vision a reality.

Together, We Will Save Lives

Distracted driving is an epidemic that is taking the lives of our children. The Maria Tiberi Foundation is teaching them the value of driving distraction-free and cultivating the skills that will keep them safe.
